Lovestruck Hangover

By: Vagarumbero in Buenos Aires

As a friend once pointed out to us prior to an evening on the town, let's not talk about the past but focus on the present and the future. When waking up with a hangover, that piece of wisdom could not be more applicable.

Without discussing the myriad events that led Vagarumbeando to start that day with the classic hangover, we are glad to report we have found a delicious way in Buenos Aires to recover quickly and more importantly enjoyably.

On one Sunday afternoon we found ourselves in the San Telmo neighborhood. After stumbling around and listening to tango on the streets, perusing the flea market, we came upon Brasserie Petanque. Recommended by a friend, we sat in this little bit of Paris in the heart of Buenos Aires. After learning that our usual cure, a Bloody Mary was not available, we had to adapt. Thanks to owner Pascal Meyer the solution was Petanque's Steak Tartare. Prepared at our table, accompanied with fries and a cold beer, this treat is now at the top of Vagarumbeando's gastronomic arsenal to fight the hangover or guele in French. Suffice it to say that this cure led us to be embroiled in another series of fortunate and absurd events which inevitably led to searching for other fun places to fight a hangover the next day.

Petanque is an ideal place for a Sunday brunch.
